<p>As the pandemic has worn on, Australians have taken to home renovations with gusto. In fact, the value of approved home renovations was <a href="https://www.smh.com.au/national/nsw/renovation-nation-australians-spending-a-record-1-billion-a-month-on-their-homes-20210511-p57qwp.html">$1.14 billion in March 2021</a> alone – almost double the monthly average of two years ago. It&#8217;s a burgeoning market but with many pitfalls – one that designer Blake Riley had the perfect solution for.</p>

The missing piece of the puzzle was someone to provide advice and connect people with the right suppliers and contractors. Blake’s wife suggested that the mortgage broker model was exactly what the renovation industry needed and the perfect way to extend their home renovation and design services. And they haven’t looked back.</p>

<h3>Renovation business rebrand. Creative Order came up with their <a href="https://creative-order.com.au/business-names/">new brand name</a>, Improva. Here&#8217;s the story behind the name.</h3>
<p class="size-16" lang="x-size-16"><span class="font-arial"><strong>IMPROVA</strong> is a derivative of the word <em>Ompröva</em>, which is the Swedish word for<em> Rethink</em>. After years of working in the renovation game and hearing horror story after horror story, Blake <em>rethought</em> the way to renovate and came up with a unique model that makes renovating effortless. </span></p>
<p><strong>IMPROVA</strong><span style="color: #000000; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: medium;"> looks like the word </span><em>Improve</em><span style="color: #000000; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: medium;">, which is what renovating is all about, and by pronouncing it </span><strong>IM-PRO-VA</strong><span style="color: #000000; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: medium;">, we are emphasising that we are pro’s in what we do.</span></p>
<p class="size-16" lang="x-size-16"><span class="font-arial">The M in the logo looks like a piece of modern architecture. There are also three matching details within the logotype (on the r, v and a) representing three for each party; Client, <strong>IMPROVA</strong> and Suppliers. These take the form of speech marks, symbolising the communication skills at <strong>IMPROVA</strong>, which are fundamental to a successful renovation and a happy client.</span></p>
<p class="size-16" lang="x-size-16"><span class="font-arial">The icon is a pointed graphic device made up of sturdy lines, which works to communicate something of a structural nature, like a home, and therefore, placing the brand in the renovation and home building industry. </span></p>
<p class="size-16" lang="x-size-16"><span class="font-arial">As much as Blake has secretly loved seeing his name on every email, paperwork and signage, it was time to let it go and embark on a bigger and bolder new chapter for his expanding company.</span></p>

<p>The <a href="http://creative-order.com.auservices/logo-design-identity/">logo design</a> solution for the X icon is a hand-drawn letter shape which takes its inspiration from an EZ Bar used in weights at the gym. The bended curves of the X have been formed to look like bent steel, rounded, flowing and sculpted. The letterform is also a nod to the links of a chain, a nod to the chain mail used in the space.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<h3>Creative Order was briefed by Carolyne Evans to create a new brand name for her luxury travel consultancy. The brief was to create a name that shows innovation while balancing a sense of trust and reliability.</h3>
<p>A new business name that challenges the status quo. A name that suggests a high-level of quality and proficiency. And of doing things differently, in an engaging way.</p>
<p>The name that we created was Going-Places with Carolyne Evans. After successfully creating the business name, our team then went about designing a bespoke logo.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span></p>
<p>The solution for the logotype is an elegant serif typeface which has been individually hand-crafted and customised, linking the two words via a flowing linkage stroke, that almost reflects a fluid wave from the ocean or the slip stream of an aeroplane.</p>
<p>We wanted the brand identity to communicate a sense of luxury through the visual language; to be luxury, instead of just paying lip service.</p>

<h3>Fitness Branding Case Study – VERO Fitness</h3>
<p>The key aspects of this fitness branding project were: brand naming, logo design, visual identity (fonts, colours, graphics, imagery) and website design.</p>
<p>Story behind the fitness brand project &#8211; Our design agency was briefed by the founder of VERO, Lydia Docking to create a new brand in the fitness training industry that would stand above the crowd.</p>
<p>With a deadline of less than two months our brief was to create everything the new start-up business would need to establish itself. Our role began with the process of devising the new brand name: VERO Fitness. We then focused on creating the logo design, brand identity and all of the touch points, including a custom website, interior and exterior signage and graphics, as well as marketing material and membership forms.</p>
<p>When developing a new brand at Creative Order, we always develop a brand story that sets the tone of voice for the direction of the brand, and often tells the story of how and why the brand came to be. Here is the brand story we created for VERO:</p>
<p>VERO means ‘truth’ and to ‘conquer’. ‘Truth’ because our high intensity group sessions do exactly what they say – you’ll feel the burn and be taken to the edge of breaking. ‘Conquer’ because you’ll be stronger, faster and much, much fitter than you ever thought possible – we can’t promise you’ll love every minute, but power through the pain and it’ll be worth it. Our trainers focus on the fundamentals of fitness. Not the fads. They’re here to make you healthier, not hotter (OK, so maybe a little hotter). They talk tough, they look tough but at heart they really care. If you’re new to all this fitness stuff, then they’ll ease you in before ramping it up. Already know what you’re doing? In that case, they’ll streamline your workouts and push you harder. Way harder.</p>

<p>Good design must not only consider look and feel, but positioning and usability and there are plenty of examples of <a href="https://www.inc.com/brit-morse/2018-biggest-marketing-branding-fails.html">bad branding design</a> and <a href="https://www.boredpanda.com/poor-design-decisions-fails/?utm_source=google&amp;utm_medium=organic&amp;utm_campaign=organic">hilarious fails</a>. But in all seriousness, bad design can make or break your reputation in an instant. First impressions still count, and poor-quality design is a fast-track way to say to your customers ‘I don’t care’. If you were going for a job interview you would dress up and appropriately according to the industry and company – how you look reflects who you are.
