The team in our design studio have been truly inspired by James Guliver Hancock’s outrageous idea: to hit the streets armed with pencil and paper, and draw all the buildings in New York.
As a Sydney born Aussie who recently moved to the big apple, James readily admits it was a mission impossible. Driven by the amazing architecture of his new surroundings he felt destined to take on the challenge. His illustration style is quirky and full of energy – each building he illustrates has it’s own history, and his work does well to capture it’s unique character and spirit.
James started his journey by posting each building illustration to his blog, which became widely popular. A publisher picked up his story and gave him a book deal and he’s now getting commissions from all over the city to draw buildings, from brownstones in Brooklyn, to walk-ups in East Village.
We love his work here at Creative Order and can’t wait to take delivery of his book! Get your own copy here .
